Physical inactivity is one of the leading risk factors for death worldwide. It is a key risk factor for noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) such as cardiovascular diseases, cancer and diabetes.
Physical activity is essential for good health. Workplaces can help increase physical activity levels, and thus improve the health of employees, reduce sickness absence and increase productivity.
An initiative by PERKESO in collaboration with BookDoc, Activ@Work aims to encourage employers to help their employees to stay active, even working from home! Using the concept of being active while collecting rewards, this program can make physical activity an interesting activity to do.
There will be three (3) components in the scoring mechanism – Step Points, Bonus Points and Excellent Points. Collect as many points as possible throughout the 3-month challenge to be the winner!
- A minimum of four (4) employees involved in the activities; and
- Your company logo (which can be edited in).
The challenge is divided into several categories where each category has its own prize pool. Generally, higher categories will have a more attractive prize pool.

Workplace Wellbeing Program and Campaign Tolak Gula organized by PERKESO are proactive initiatives aimed at fostering a healthy work culture and improving employees’ quality of life. These programs not only emphasize physical aspects such as healthy eating and reducing sugar intake, but also focus on the mental and emotional wellbeing of the workforce. Through a variety of interactive activities, health talks, and lifestyle guidance, participants gain valuable knowledge and awareness on the importance of achieving a balanced work-life. This initiative aligns with PERKESO’s mission to support the holistic health of workers and to reduce the rising risk of non-communicable diseases (NCD) among the nation’s workforce.
Therefore, for this year, we have included the Workplace Wellbeing Program and Campaign Tolak Gula as bonus criteria for the employers category in our Activ@work Challenge competition.
Why this campaign is established by PERKESO?
This campaign was established by PERKESO as a proactive response to the alarming rise in non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension among the Malaysian workforce. Recognizing the impact of lifestyle-related health issues on productivity, healthcare costs, and overall wellbeing, PERKESO aims to cultivate healthier work environments through preventive education and wellness initiatives. By promoting balanced nutrition, reducing sugar intake, and encouraging mental and emotional resilience, the campaign supports PERKESO’s mission to enhance the quality of life for workers, reduce absenteeism, and contribute to a more sustainable and productive workforce. This initiative also aligns with national health objectives to reduce the burden of preventable diseases and foster a culture of long-term wellbeing in the workplace.
